Green Christmas
It's going to be a green Christmas. I remember in 1983 or 1984 when we took Nara to visit our aunt in Kirkland for Christmas and there was no snow. It's as if this same episode is being repeated every 20 years or so.
Green grass for Christmas. And the weather is also nice to take which is a bonus.
Even the Canada geese are still here. Early Sunday morning, a flock of them gathered on the river for a long time.
Osker and I when on our usual walk in town. The morning was calm and yet warm for this time of year.
Clearing of the fallen trees has begun Monday and is still going on. It is a major operation.
Trees that have fallen on its own are removed others are being cut as they are most dangerous and will eventually create damage or block our road or even could fall on us. Everytime there is strong wind, we are sure to pick up even big branches.
Alex and his crew are working hard and doing a superb job. They are also fortunate that the weather is on their side.
It's too bad that this one had to go also. I hate seeing trees being cut as they are also refuge for many birds.
All loaded up and ready for the mill.
Major work, major clearing, major cleaning operation.

Meanwhile, Winston is busy decorating the tree joined by...... as you will see below by Dave who later told us of the origine of the Christmas tree.
which I have on video for Nara to view later.
And what was Osker doing while we were decorating the tree and listening to Christmas music? This picture speaks for itself hahaha
And voilà, the tree is now ready. Nara's presents received this Monday from South Korea are now under the tree. She was told that the parcel wouldn't arrived on time. I was delighted.
More to follow next time on our school Christmas concert.

Déjà-vu
It all started quite innocently. A little bit of rain, a little wind, nothing much really but we knew that a big system was coming our way and it did hit at around 3:00. A band of precipitation from Barrie to Cornwall had the routing map to the RED.
Winston was due to arrive that afternoon from Kingston and I had that funny feeling that he would miss the train. Not sooner thought that the phone rang and Winston had just missed his train. It was for the best. The rain in the morning at times was freezing rain but in the afternoon it was also ice pellets mixed with that. I was glad in a sense to not have been on the road.
After supper I headed for Cornwall by passing under the apple tree with my car since a big tree had fallen on the road blocking my way. At 6:30 I called Dave to tell him that Winston would be 5 minutes late. It's then he told me that the power was off. So we came home and decided to do the best we could in that situation.
Dave decided to read in a dangerous way as Osker also wanted to be beside him. Not a good choice with a candle sitting on an arm rest.
Winston, on the other hand, was mixing the Skip-Bo cards for a game or two. Haaha I won the first game but he then did the 2nd time. We all had to go to bed by 10:30 since there was still no power.
These are the trees now blocking our entrance. Others will have to also come down. By the look of them, they will also soon do the same thing.
Our neigbour's parking space is also blocked. A crew will be coming soon hoping that it will be today to clear that mess. What a night this was. Brrrrr!
