The More the Merrier

This Saturday has been a very busy one starting with our morning trip across the border and grocery shopping afterwards. Once home, there was no time to lose. Cleaning, cooking and suddenly, the doorbell rings. A visitor. Dave stops what he is doing. Minutes are ticking. We check on our progress. One cake in the oven, one pie to go. After the pie, I am in the process of making the goat cheese stuffing for the chicken when I hear Osker bark. Someone is at the back door. It is Hugh P. and a couple from British Columbia. Arggggg!!!!!!!...... I navigate from setting the dining room table, stuff the chicken etc. etc. Phew!!!!! It's not winter but we learned to skate pretty fast.

It's because we enjoyed having our friends for dinner so much that we decided to have them again along this time with another couple. We also knew that this was going to be a good match and we were right on with our prediction.
Rice is done, carrots and parsnips burned while we were still skating. Had to start that batch all over again. Stuffed chicken breasts were in the oven. The kitchen was busting of activity as if we were in the restaurant business. I can sympathize with chefs and their assistants (hahaha). But that was fun though.

The prepared goat cheese stuffing for the chicken breasts. The herb that was added this time is called Chinese chives.
The table is set. It's not a formal formal dinner affair but a fun time to have and to be with friends.
Eric is busy getting the wine ready while Dave is preparing our plates for this aromatic delicious meal. Ans and Margaret are seated on my left.
John and Jane are seated beside Dave, and Eric is facing the camera. No one sees Osker but he is waiting also to get some food along with Napkin who adores goat cheese I found out this week. I had to bring each their little treat as they were both insisting on having some right now.
The main course. Followed by much much later on the desserts.
Jane's prize winning rhubarb meringue pie was praised by everyone.

The lemon tea loaf was next in line near midnight.

I couldn't believe that it was so late as men were talking politics still at the diner table while we women were in Dave's office talking and viewing pictures on my computer.

The evening was enjoyed by all and we still have two pieces left of that delicious pie.
